When I first colored this pretty vintage image I really didn't know what was driving my color choices.  When I finished coloring I thought maybe I should make this into a Christmas card.  I played around with some background papers and tried to enhance the vintage style femininity of the pink lace and ribbon.  I think this will be a perfect card for October- Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Hello Fall

I'm back from my annual trip up north to look for fall color.  The leaves weren't  quite ready yet but the trip was fun anyways.  I recently received some great seasonal stamps from Northwoods...a long time Minnesota stamp company.  After I stamped this image I thought this busy design would be a little intimidating to color.  What helped me was to concentrate on one design element type at a time. First I colored all of the "greens".  Then I colored the berries...maple leaves...daisies etc.  Pretty soon I had a very colorful basket of fall goodness.

Fall Bliss

I love owls almost as much as I love fall.  On the eve of my yearly fall trip "up north" to Grand Marais I made a card featuring  both of my favorites.  I took a little creative license in the coloring of the barn owl...he looks like he spent the end of summer in a tanning booth... he's my "pigment of imagination" :)  I have had the Sizzix fall leaf border die for awhile now but this is the first time I used it.  I really like the size, quantity and variety of leaf shapes on one die. I used my Copic markers to color the leaves.
